The frequency of data collection and transmission for Local Intelligence Devices (LIDs), as outlined in the NSW Gazette, is legally binding to ensure compliance with water usage regulations and timely reporting. These devices are mandated to capture and transmit data at intervals sufficient to provide a real-time or near-real-time record of water extraction and usage. 

DecMecs collects data every hour and transmits the usage to water authorities in New South Wales. Data is encrypted and stored locally for five years.
